Feb. 28th, 2008 12:55 amAn Index of all the Four/Ainley!Master fic I could find on the internet, in alphabetical order by author. Please comment to let me know if you know of/have written more! Also if the links are broken or if you're on the list and you'd rather not be, let me know and I'll make changes accordingly.
And I'm defining this loosely: I want anything where they so much as exchange a smoldering glance or Sigh Meaningfully While Contemplating Each Other up here-- this pairing's story-base is too small to quibble over how much interaction constitutes a them-centric fic.

I think maybe it's that Four and the Master only had the one story plus a teeny bit of the one before. Tom was soooo burnt out on the gig by the time Anthony showed, and he really comes across all the way through Logopolis as kinda "I'm getting the hell out of here so just STFU and let's get on with it." If the Master had shown up a couple of seasons into Four's reign they might have clicked, and we'd be up to our digital eyeballs in Four / Ainley!Master fic. Anthony adored being the Master; he'd probably have worked his arse off to build up an on-screen relationship with Tom if the grumpy old so-n-so had given him a chance.
But that's just my opinion; I could be wrong.

Date: 2008-02-28 06:14 pm (UTC)I feel that and raise you 'Four is almost a paternal figure to me,' so unless he's going to like, offer the Master soup, an unsexy cuddle and a zany adventure, after which they both laugh heartily and, I dunno, play skeeball? I do NOT think I can do it. Or read it comfortably. But there might be one Really Well Done fic out there in someone's brain, just waiting to prove me wrong.
I know! Poor post-divorce soused!Baker, though. Didn't really have much more to give at the mo.

OH, I hadn't considered that, but you're so right! Man, that would be one hell of a different fandom!world.
The weird thing? I kind of see how they might have clicked/had good on screen chemistry if given half a chance. It's the zany!factor of Four and the good-humor of Ainley!Master: less of the push-pull of Five/Master, more of a ricochet/bouncing back and forward, if that makes any sense?

Say, don't you owe me some fic?
Make me a believer, dear.
